Nestled into one of the most livable and college campus-infused parts of the country, Greensboro has all the ingredients to create the comfortable, neighborhood-focused dive bars found throughout the city. The combination of affordable living and warm weather has a tendency to bring out the best in dive bar drinking, Greensboro no exception.
Timeless classics like Walker’s Bar and Westerwood Tavern fill the mold of casual neighborhood spots alongside the sprawling, sometimes (often) packed College Hill Sundries. The timeless love affair of laundromats and alcohol is rekindled in Suds & Duds, only a few steps from Walker’s and anchor to an attractive city block in what was once the neighborhood drug store.
Greensboro has also perfected the slender, strip mall dive bar without sacrificing an ounce of authenticity, both Boo Radley’s and Lawndale Drive-In perfect examples that happen to be about half a block apart. The surroundings in Greensboro make for pleasant drinking and the city’s dive bars live up to that expectation.
