Calling Judy’s Pub & Eatery a dive bar does a bit of a disservice to its food offering, clearly the star of the show at this Virginia Beach dive bar opened in 1988. There are holes in the wall and then there’s Judy’s Pub, sandwiched between a row of businesses in a small strip mall and occupying what feels like about 10 feet across. The space opens up a bit inside, angled from the entry to reveal a long bar counter opposite a single row of low tables and that’s about it. A small alcove in back houses a little bit of dive bar distraction in the way of a jukebox and foosball table.
Renovations have updated the look a bit over the years, swapping out a few of the surfaces, but unchanged is the focus on food that creeps into every Judy’s Pub & Eatery review. Particularly compelling is the Virginia Beach dive bar’s burger special that runs $6 before 4 PM, a hard deal to beat. Cheesesteaks are also surprisingly well received among a menu with a slew of rotating specials that includes things like oysters and other very non-dive bar options.
